FOI: Changing Scotland's landscape

The Annual Report and Accounts for 2016/17 sets out the work of the Commissioner across the year to help deliver a more transparent and accountable Scotland.

Highlights include:

  • Public awareness of FOI remained at its highest ever level, at 85%.
  • We met or exceeded most of our investigation performance targets (10 out of 12).
  • We issued our first ever Enforcement Notices.
  • We carried out 15 level 4 interventions with authorities to address practice concerns.
  • We launched our online appeal service, making it possible for requesters to make appeals to us, and receive real-time help and advice, at any time of day.
  • 100% of delegates at the 3 regional roadshows we delivered rated them as "good" or "excellent".
  • We responded to our 20,000th enquiry since 2005.
